Dr. Heather Zelna
Dr. Heather Zelna received her undergraduate degree in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management with minors in Biology and Chemistry from Florida State University, where she was a member of the Tri Beta Biological Honor Society and the Phi Beta Sigma National Honor Society. She then attended Des Moines University’s College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery where she received her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree and was a member of Pi Delta, the National Podiatric Honor Society reserved for those students at the top of their class. Dr. Heather then completed her surgical residency at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. She has served on the Medical Executive Committee and Standards and Credentials Committee at Palms of Pasadena Hospital, and was named Top Doctor in 2022.

Dr. Brendon Zelna
Dr. Brendon Zelna received his undergraduate degree in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Religion from Florida State University, where he was a member of the Tri Beta Biological Honor Society. He then attended Des Moines University’s College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery where he received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree and was a member of Pi Delta, the National Podiatric Honor Society reserved for those students at the top of their class. Dr. Brendon then completed his surgical residency at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital just outside of Detroit, Michigan, where he was also named Chief Resident. He has served as the Vice Chief of Surgery as well as on the Medical Executive Committee at Palms of Pasadena Hospital.

Having spent over 20 years training and working together, Dr. Heather and Dr. Brendon have developed their entire careers around learning together.
Their practice focuses on the conservative treatment of open wounds and foot and ankle pain and injuries, while only reserving surgical management for when it is absolutely necessary. The physicians work with patients directly to tailor their treatment to their lifestyle and their goals as much as possible. This helps to provide the safest and most effective course to successfully address a patient’s medical problems while also keeping their time, activity, and personal preferences at the forefront of their treatment plan.

Des Moines University
Off to the Midwest for the #1 podiatry school in the country. They got married that summer, and spent the next 4 years earning their DPMs together2013-2016
Henry Ford Macomb Hospital
Next, a 3 year surgical residency just outside of Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Heather and Dr. Brendon were the only 2 doctors chosen for the program in their year! Learning from the best, they were able to complete their residencies together.
2016-Present
Coastal Foot & Ankle Specialists
Once they completed their residency, they moved to Gulfport and took over the practice of Dr. Stephen Moss, who served the St. Pete community for over 40 years. It has been an honor to care for his patients and to continue to grow the practice into what it is today.
Their time outside of the office is spent having fun around St. Pete with their two children.
They also love time at home with their two chocolate labs and cat.
They are blessed to have had many patients become like extended family through the years as well.
